Cross Over: Yr 2013 To A Brand New Yr 2014

Hi all, been quite a while since I last wrote =D
A quick summary on the food entries from end December 2013 to the Brand new year start of Year 2014

First entry to a visit to Timbre Switch for its signature frozen foam Kirin Beer=D
Last year in December, Jess showed me a picture of her frozen foam beer and commented its damn good.
Beer kept to its best form of being chilled and this concept started right from Japan itself.

Being a beer person, of course, I will not want to give it a miss.
So right before the Xmas Eve, dated Jess out for a beer and of course not forgetting the beer food  to go with it= D A good way to end a year  with a good friend chilling out together, good booze and great live band music =D

Our Lychee Kirin Beer with the signature frozen foam.
Interesting and yums

A mix of signature duck pizza and  a choice of seafood so we can savour 2 flavours of pizza at the same time
The duck pizza is still as yummy as always =D
Buffolo Wings- NOt so nice.. was disappointed.
Chicken not tender and the sauce does not complement that well

Beer buddies: Me & Jess.
Cheers to end 2013 & a bang to 2014 =D
Good Health, Good Wealth & Good Luck =D

Venue: Switch By Timbre
Great for chilling out but not a good conducive environment to talk
Address: 73 Bras Basah Rd, NTUC Trade Union House #01-01
Expenditure: S$72 for the whole bill

Next is an outing with fat bf to Bukit Merah area.
Just happened to explore the more hipster side of Bukit Merah when we initially wanted to go AnchorPoint. Glad for that switch !!

A normal neighbourhood coffee shop with a hippy and youth vibrancy is quite a rare gem in this mature estate.

Fat BF decided to try out their stew at this Stew Küche which is a German Food stall set up by a retiree which is also the coffeeshop owner

Do note that queue keeps coming so if you want, do pop in early =P

Cheap draft beer =D
(Around $7.90/pint)

Fat Bf's order: Chicken Stew and this comes with a baguette

This is how the Chicken Stew is presented

My order for a Prawn Marina Linguine
Not bad for a price of less than S$8
Being a conservative eater especially that Xmas , New Year and Chinese New Year festive dates are so close together. Cant really  always binge on good and rich food else very soon cant fit in all my clothes=P
Will try the German Pork Knuckles if were to go there again (and can order half) to share.

Total spend: Less than $30 in total bill ( including beer)
Address#01-40, 119 Bukit Merah Lane,
 | Tel: 96650785 | Opening hours: Daily 11am–10pm

That marks the end of Year 2013.
For a Start of New Year 2014
Went Medzs @ Orchard Central with fat bf on our New Year
Medzs is a place for a Mediterranean food and it works exactly how Marche works
Before you enter the restaurant, you will be given a card each so you can order your food and the bill will be chalked on the card itself

Not too sure is it the reason that its New Year or is it we were at orchard Central, the whole restaurant looks lifeless and cold
But Fat bf commented a few times he passed by this restaurant at lunch times, it was always packed
So given the benefit of doubt, we just went in since fat bf had craving for Mediterranean Cuisine =P

Though there was a good range of soup.
Just when we wanted asparagus soup, fat bf was told they had only 3 choices that day
*Cant they make a good correction then?*
So fat bf went for Tomato Soup
Verdict: Lukewarm & diluted.
Disappointed to the max!

Tried the half roasted chicken:
Verdict: Normal and decent & nothing too fantastic and this is a very safe dish

Fat Bf was fascinated with Tanjines
This is the only Mediterranean dish that we ordered that day
From Wiki: tajine or tagine (Arabicطاجين‎ tajin from the Persianتابه‎) [1][2] is a historically Berber[3] dish from North Africa that is named after the type of earthenware pot in which it is cooked
Further info can be found here
Seafood Taijin with Millet
Erm, I cant really appreciate the taste of millet though this is a from a history of 4000 years discovered by archaeologist and found to have much healthy benefits such as controlling blood pressure and if people with heart attacks, this millet is good for them.

A close look at Seafood Tanjine: Not too bad, quite a good try but I believe the authentic Tanjine will taste far better

The excited fat bf who came in excited but walked off disappointed =P

The buzzer that will alert you to collect your food once they are ready

Our food recipts

Total spend: $43.10
Verdict: Our first and last experience
(Subject to personal preference which explains such a verdict)
There may be others who love it ( up to individual ) =P

Addres: #B2-01, Orchard Central, 181 Orchard Road
