Birthday Surprise for the Bestie (23 May 14)

Again, its been quite some time since I last blog. Going against the chronicle of events by posting the latest instead=P

Well, some time around Wednesday, received missed calls from Y's hubby then a message found on my facebook that he planned to organise a mini little surprise birthday dinner for his wife
Such a considerate and sweet gesture, of course I replied saying "OK" since Y is none other than my bestie whom knows me inside out thoroughly.. Ha =P

So, Y's hubby (G) had it all plan.
A dinner with Y's closest friends at Liang KeeTeochew Restaurant @ Whampoa West was arranged.
G also prepared a lovely surprise gift for his wifey.
As it is supposed to be a surprise and so.. and to cover all the hush ..Supposedly I was supposed to go down to his studio to get the present and then go down to the restaurant. Sudden change of plan whereby G's colleague managed to bring down the present himself.
Surprise gift was presented at the end of dinner but moment not captured on my camera=P

The reason why Liang Kee Teochew Restaurant was picked is that the hubby knows all along that's one of the places his wifey has always wanted to go.. Again, applause for this role model for all the hubby or "Hubby-Going-To-be" out there=P

First yummy meal that was served goes none other than the Cold Crab.
My first time savouring this crab so do the many of us =D
Its really surprisingly sweet, firm and succulent
Though sauces such as chilli, honey lemon  & etc. were provided but personal comment was to eat it originally is already the best way to savour it =D

2nd dish served: Steamed White Prom-fret Fish
The Teochews love  their fishes steamed ( I'm half Teochew) and so I know this is one of the must have to be served on table.
This fish is really very fresh, and steamed with ginger, Chinese Parsley, plum and hence making the whole taste more tantalising and appetising.

3rdly, this is the Cai Fan ( Cant remember the dish in the menu)
My mum cooks this often whereby pork, mushroom, dried shrimps, vegetable are cooked together with the rice. Yums

4th dish: Oyster Eggs
Verdict: I'm not a fan of Oysters but the Oysters are really very big here
I appreciate the eggs more ( Oopps) but from fat BF''s verdict: He likes the Oysters but find the overall dish a tad oily.

The Big Oyster- sorry using my camera phone hence did not do great justice to the osyters=P

5th Dish: Spinach with mushrooms
Birthday girl insisted that Shaoxing wine & pork lard oil are being used so she loves this dish
Food connoisseur indeed !!

6th Dish: Tofu soup => Not too bad though I still prefer my mum's version =P
Mum's a teochew so this is one of the few mum always prepares =D Lovessss! Simple and yet heart-warming

7th dish:
Oh, braised duck went out of stock .. so sad as that's one of the must order too.
Hee, I love Hae Chor...So when G asked what's to replace the duck.. Hee.. Hae Chor came immediately to my mind =D
I'm a hopeless Glutton , geez =D
Also, my mum's favourite =D

8th dish:
Ending the Grand Finale with none other than : Steamed Yam Paste
I'm a sucker for Yam Paste =P
I can order Yam paste whenever I see this on menu & will get real disappointed if it's not nice
Nevertheless, indeed an authentic Teochew Dish, this Yam Paste ( aka Orh Nee) is super well done
A tough skill to manage the sweetness, texture and yet bringing out the awesome taste of the yam =D
Thumbs UP for this!!!!!! Yummylicious =D

White Wine prepared by Fat Bf => Nice German Restling Wine
Capturing Yun in the background too =P

Fruit Platter from the restaurant

Wow, little did I know that we had a total of 8 dishes for the dinner =D
Too yummy, too busy enjoying the food till lost count of the dishes till sitting here to blog
Thanks G for this gorgeous Teochew restaurant introduction =D
Ending this food post with our group picture
