Luk Yu Restaurant & Teahouse : 10-Aug-2013

Another pig-out session with bestie & gang.. Bestie mentions there is a dim sum from Luk Yu situated at Chinatown which is worth the try. So there we were heading down towards the teahouse. Prior to getting there, I read some reviews from others' blogs which says their service and food is only average hence I was a bit skeptical. However, with the sharp taste buds of my bestie, she only recommends what's good as always.  Do note: this Luk Yu teahouse is of no affiliation with the Luk Yu in Hongkong. The best attraction is that Luk Yu at Chinatown point offers a 30% discount for dim sum from 3pm-5pm which is definitely a good deal. From the pictures below, the interior of Luk YU looks very oriental and cool.

Lets introduce what we had yesterday for the total 5 of us=D
Fried Beancurd with Shrimp: $7.60 for 3pcs
Its one of the definitely must-haves=D

The much raved about: Abalone Glutinous rice: $11 for 1pc

Creamy Custurd Bun : $3 for 2pcs
This is indeed good, see the fillings oozing out? Its another Must-Order=D I had one and a half buns=D Yums
Prawn Siu Mai :$9 for 5pcs (Sold & served individually)
Presentation + taste equally good
Xiao Long Bao: $8.80 for 6pcs
Not worth it, feels that the fried onion oil kills everything, I had one and that's it..

 Phoenix claws: $3.80/serving
Only Yun & Bestie appreciate this dish. Not that this is not nice but because the remaining 3 of us do not eat chicken feet. Per their verdict: Good!
Paper wrapped Chicken: $7.20 for 4pcs
This is seriously very good =D See the interior of the chicken wrapped in paper.. salivating now =D

 Fried shrimp dumpling: $7.60
Oh well, fried food can never taste too wrong. Its another one of the must order=P
 Yam Puff : $3.80 for 3 pcs
Erm.. I was too full hence did not manage to eat this=P
But fat bf says its nice.. sorry. bring you next round ok.. hee as he needed to go back office to work. Poor boy=X

Har Kow:  (Steamed prawn dumpling): $9 for 5pcs
This is served & sold individually. If not for the 30%, the bill seriously can come up to be quite scary.. gosh.
The prawns used are lavishly plently.. texture of skin can be better, overall, not bad but not a" knock-out"!

Steamed Pork's Liver meat: $1.50
Served individually for one piece
Shared between me & Yun. We both find that the pork is fatty & liver too tough.. Can skip this item.
Last but not least ending the feast with desserts =P
I had this chilled mango sago: $3.80.. Taste normal but its always good to end feast with desserts =P
G's bottled milk pudding: $3,80
Forget to ask for his review=P
Yun's Mango Pudding:$3.80
Yun loves this very much and I had stolen a bite, not too bad too =D

Total Damage for 5pax (after 30% discount: $100.70

In conclusion, its still a steal with this 30% promotion and having the bill to come up to $20/pax for this kinda spread. Will I come back again? Yes, and the location is convenient to drop by too =D
Only a side note, both Yun & bestie were disappointed as their egg tarts and char siew pastry were sold out hence hope the next round, we can have the chance to appreciate them again=D

Location: Chinatown Point, 133 New Bridge Road #01-41/42, Chinatown, 059413
Pls note: Dim sum is only served from 3-5pm and there is no reservations allowed.

Ending the post with wines at Yun's house. Remember I mentioned that Yun brought back a total 11 bottles back from a wine vineyard in Perth?
Thanks gal for the hospitality.. and bestie's self made cheesecake..
What a day to get fat but yet enjoys the whole day companion. What beats good food, great chilled out gathering and good tasting wine? =D Ciao, stay tuned =D
