Continuing from our
Rome Day 1 post, here is more posts of our Rome trip, Day 2 =D
Yeah!!Visit to the highly anticipated Vatican City =D
Oh well, the night before we checked with Jess again on the duration she last queued for Vatican City
( We were at same time zone with Jess in Greece then) =P
As Jess mentioned she queued for around 1.5hrs so all the more we were determined to wake up earlier to queue for the admission. Anyway, our host was super shocked to know that we did not even buy the tickets online before we came.
So arghzz though we stayed very near to Vatican, we tried to get our ass out of bed early the very next morning.
Grabbed a cup of coffee with bread and off we started our "snakingly" long queue.
Fortunately, we spent around 45-50 mins to get in =P
| That's me holding my very own cafe latte in the Vatican queue=P |
| Peng happy with her cino.. she always ordered Cino=P |
Okay, whilst in the queue, grasp more information from the tour guide book so we know
what was expected to see in Vatican & the Sistine Chapel. |
| Isn't the weather fantastic then? Love the bright blue sky. |
| Getting excited with us getting nearer to the entrance |
| Admission Ticket at € 16,00 /pax |
| Both of us are super excited |
| Forget how much we spent on the audio guide but this is necessary =D |
| One of the many replicas that we seen there |
It was right here in this area compound that we can both
spend close to an hour cam-whoring & taking pic.
Any picture taken in such bright environment looks super splendid =D |
| Just look at our expression. Super delightful =D |
Kind of hard to request some people to take a picture for us
I mean this place is quite touristy hence that's why there were some who just
escaped or "siam" (singlish) when we approached them. =P |
| Hallway of statues and all these are replicas of the fine works back in olden Roman times. |
| There is story behind every statue. But we just snapped photos away happily=P |
| Love these paintings on the ceilings |
| All these are not replicas but real ANTIQUES ! |
| Closer look at the real stuff =D |
| Another Antiques! |
One of the famous statues
An interesting fact wiki on the fig leaf on the males statues. |
| Interestingly, in the Vatican Museum, there also have show cases of Egypt |
| The Mummies!! |
The Mummy Corpse with one of them the female and the other the male.
Should be King and Queen then |
| Well, I love these paintings hung on the walls |
Many ceiling & wall paintings that we cannot identify which is the famous Adam & Eve ,
Michaelangelo's The Last Judgement & etc |
So there we were at the museum. Touring around the museum is no joke and there are simply too many things to see. We spent a total 5-6 hours in the whole Vatican city and stomach started to rumble That was our latest hour to have lunch =P
We read somewhere that its better to stay away from the Vatican City premise if we do not want to have our meals too expensive. So with our hungry spirits, we dragged ourselves to a few streets down where we find lots of cafe and restaurants around the area..
Hence, we just settled in one of the small scale cafe where the chicken looked yummy =P
| haha.. our minced meat ravioli there.. small & delectable=D |
Shared a quarter /half chicken... cant remember even from this picture=P
Guess what!! I ordered The Caldo just because the pronunciation sounds class..
End up "The Caldo" is Tea in Italian=P
To think that I even questioned the waiter that I should be having my coffee
Haha, what a joke of the day =D |
After our quick lunch, we headed down for our St. Peter Basilica which is a very short distance away from The Vatican City =D
| Lots of ladies crowded around just to look at this handsome guard from a distance =D |
| So we joined in the crowd. Which girl will resist looking at handsome dude=P |
| Finally reached St Peter Basilica =D |
| Yeah this is the St Peter Basilica beautiful landmark.. |
| yayya.. one of the yoga poses |
| A picture taken together.. Yeah,, |
Well, after our very late lunch, its almost 5-6pm there at the Basilica.
Again long queue to get in but this round we just roamed around to take pictures |
Look at the wet patches on the ground
Drizzles on and off!! |
| The happy gal with her "bed" of flowers =D |
Interior of St Peter's.. Splendid & also breathtaking!
Pardon the low resolution from my normal digital camera |
| Love this Pic!! As this light from heaven shines in =D |
Ok, remember the handsome guard?
Due to the rain and such, they donned in such cute hoodie.. cute! |
| Can't resist to not take a pic with the handsome guard as my background=P |
So the main itinerary for our Day 2 was finally accomplished. Ending the day at around 7pm plus. Day was still bright while dinner will be ready at most restaurant at 8pm.
However, we already decided our dinner from the morning =P Know why?
Answer revealed as per below =P
Yeah.. Sushi... we were graving for asain food.. especially our staple such as rice..
And its buffet some more.. hahah =P |
| Nice salad =P |
| Need some miso soup |
| My Tempura Udon .. as long as the noodle soup is served piping hot, I'm satisfied =D |
| Peng's katsu don.. she was craving for rice dearly=P |
| Yeah.. fresh sashimi. |
| I over ordered grilled chicken yakitori =P But still we wiped them off clean from the plates=P |
| I must be crazy to order that much =P |
| Last order for prawn tempura to end our dinner feast =P |
After our heavy dinner, we loitered around before returning to our host's place.
During a short interim of time, Peng managed to buy a coat for herself.
Made-In-Italy=P |
The least expected event that ends our beautiful yet tiring day was the display of fireworks
Ending this post with a few pictures of the fireworks that we took, enjoy =D
